What started as a pipe dream became a reality for Gayle, Jim, their daughter Crystal, and her husband, Dexter. The Sun Valley Wine Company represents their most cherished family memories and their favorite must-haves when traveling to Sun Valley on their many ski vacations.
Crystal always said, “If we could ever one day own the Sun Valley Wine Company, we would jump at it instantaneously. It’s my happy place!” In the spring of 2021, the opportunity presented itself to take on this fantastic business venture. As the four shared owners of the Sun Valley Wine Company, they are committed to offering every customer, buyer, or passerby the ultimate experience, atmosphere, and cozy place they adore. The Sun Valley Wine Company continues to serve loyal locals along with new wine enthusiasts, while bringing friends and family together. Owner & Manager
Crystal and her family originally bought a condo in Sun Valley during her ski racing years. They instantly fell in love with Sun Valley and the Sun Valley Wine Co. They would visit the SV Wine Co. après ski as a family, and Crystal grew up enjoying this cozy atmosphere.
When she was old enough, she began to enjoy tasting new wines and became enthusiastic about learning about the wine industry. Crystal’s love for Sun Valley led her and her family to purchase the business to continue learning about her passion for world wines and making Sun Valley her home with her husband, Dexter.
Owner & Manager
Originally from Jamaica, Dexter was recruited to join the University of Nebraska – Lincoln (Cornhuskers) for track and field, where he excelled both athletically and academically. His journey eventually brought him to Sun Valley, a place he and Crystal had visited annually to celebrate Christmas. In 2020, the charm of the valley and the people here convinced Dexter to stay for good. Since then, he’s embraced the mountain lifestyle, even trading his track spikes for skis (with some encouragement from Crystal).
Dexter brings his passion for connection and culture to Sun Valley Wine Co., where his vision is to create a welcoming space that celebrates fine wine, great company, and the beauty of the area.

For years, Gayle has been enjoying the Sun Valley Wine Company. She and Jim have owned a home in Sun Valley for 30-plus years, and the SV Wine Co. has always been a place for her and her friends to enjoy après ski.
Gayle’s enthusiasm for wine grew during a vacation she and Jim took to Italy, where they especially enjoyed the wine tasting. Then, as Crystal got older, wine became a passion project for the entire family.

Jim met Gayle when they were both working in the construction management industry in Washington state during the 1980’s. Together with Crystal, they both came to love Sun Valley during their frequent visits.
After retirement, Jim and Gayle started spending six months a year in the Sun Valley area and decided to make Ketchum their permanent home. Running the business, along with Crystal and Dexter, is an exciting post-retirement endeavor for both of them.

Reservations are highly encouraged. Seating is available for walk-ins on a first-come, first-served basis.
We accept reservations through Resy. You can also reserve our private rooftop decks for special events.
